Marilyn Monroe’s Favourite Books

Marilyn was an avid reader. Many have said she always had a book on set, and would usually read in between takes. Bette Davis once stated she read a Dostoyevsky novel on the set of All About Eve, and she famously had a personal library of over 400 books!

As a fellow book lover, here are some of the books included in Marilyn’s library.

On The Road, Jack Kerouac

Leaves of Grass, Walt Whitman

Ulysses, James Joyce

The Prophet, Kahlil Gibran

The Fall, Albert Camus

Of Human Bondage, W. Somerset Maugham

A Streetcar Named Desire, Tennessee Williams

Madame Bovary, Gustave Flaubert

The Secret Agent, Joseph Conrad

The Great Gatsby, F. Scott Fitzgerald

The Unnamable, Samuel Beckett

A Farewell to Arms, Ernest Hemingway
